252 Vaishnav Varta 194 - Gopaldas of BadnagarNow the sentiment of the account of Shri Gusainji’s sevak, Gopaldas, a resident of Badnagar, is being explained.
Bhav Prakash (Revealing the Sentiment): This is a rajasic devotee. In the divine play, her name is “Baldevi.” She manifested from “Umashankar,” therefore she is of his emotional form.
Prasang 1 – Gopaldas Receives Initiation and Thakurji
Once, Shri Gusainji arrived at Badnagar. At that time, Gopaldas made a request: “Maharaj! Please accept me into your refuge.” Then Shri Gusainji gave Gopaldas the Name and Brahmasambandh initiation. Afterward, Gopaldas requested Shri Gusainji to install Shri Thakurji for him. Then, out of grace, Shri Gusainji bestowed Shri Thakurji upon him and instructed: “Serve Shri Thakurji properly and in the best manner.” After that, Shri Gusainji departed from there and went to Shri Dwarkaji. Then from there, he returned to Shri Gokul.
Prasang 2 – Gopaldas Receives the Leftover Mahaprasad
Afterward, on one occasion, a group was coming to Shri Gokul from Gujarat. Gopaldas also came along with that group. After arriving, they had darshan of Shri Navneetpriyaji during Rajbhog. Thereafter, they had darshan of Shri Gusainji. Then Shri Gusainji gave the instruction: “O Vaishnavas! Take Mahaprasad here.” The Vaishnavas replied: “As you command.”
Then Gopaldas said: “Maharaj! If permission is granted, I will come later.” Shri Gusainji replied: “Very well.” Having said this, Shri Gusainji went for his meal. After taking his meal, he had Mahaprasad distributed to all the Vaishnavas. Then he reclined and afterward arose. At that time, Gopaldas arrived. Then Shri Gusainji said: “Why did you not come to take Mahaprasad?” Gopaldas replied: “Maharaj! My desire is for the leftover Mahaprasad.”
Then Shri Gusainji placed before him the leaf plate containing the leftovers. Gopaldas sat down to take the leftovers. Yet the leftovers in the plate did not come to an end. Then Shri Gusainji came there and said: “How is it?” Gopaldas replied: “Maharaj! I will not leave any of the leftovers on the plate.”
Then, by Shri Gusainji’s gracious glance, it remained continuously available. Then Shri Gusainji said: “Has your cherished desire been fulfilled?” Gopaldas replied: “Who besides you could accomplish it?” After that, having obtained Shri Gusainji’s permission, Gopaldas had darshan of Shri Nathji and performed the pilgrimage of Braj. Then he returned to Shri Gokul. Afterward, Gopaldas took leave from Shri Gusainji, and he and all the other Vaishnavas returned to their homes.
Bhav Prakash (Revealing the Sentiment): In this account, the nature of Mahaprasad has been shown. Mahaprasad never comes to an end. Therefore, one should never apply worldly intelligence to Mahaprasad.
Gopaldas was such a recipient of Shri Gusainji’s grace and such a Bhagavadiya devotee. Therefore, how much can be said of his glory?
