Well this incident is related to the one When Shri Mahaprabhuji defeated the Mayavadis who used to take help of Saraswatiji.
Shri Mahaprabhuji's vani nobody could challenge nor defeat even Saraswatiji had to bow down to Shri Mahaprabhuji and did not help the Mayavadis who lost.
Hence Shri Mahaprabhuji was given the name Vakpati.
Vak meaning speech
Pati meaning husband or Lord.
Correct me if I am wrong.

Yes vasantbhai, it was a prasang like this that one pakhandi had kept shrisaraswatiji into his control and won many of the sabhas-charcha.
But shrimahaprabhuji came to that nagar and did parast to that pakhandi. From that day aapshri was called as Vakpati.

When the brahmin asked saraswati why she was not helping him, she said that this is my husband (pati) and how can I help you to defeat him.
Hence the name vakpati...
Please correct me if I am wrong.
