Jai Jai ShriGokulesh, The name of the initiation for entering into the Pushti-Marga is Sharana-Mantra-Diksha. In English we may call it “initiation through the formula of resort”. This Diksha is also known as ‘Astaksara-Diksha’ or “Nama-mantra-Diksha”. Astakshara-Maha-Mantra' is the Sharana-Diksha-mantra of Pushti-Bhakti-Marga. As this Mantra consists of letters, it is called ‘Astakshara-Maha-Mantra’. A student who seeks admission to the second standard must have passed the first standard. Similarly, to get admission into the Pushti-Marga one must have some qualifications as under: 1. Of all gods and goddesses Shri Krishna is the greatest God. 2. No god other than Shri Krishna can uplift. 3. It is an unpardonable sin on the part of the disciple of the Pushti-Marga to go to the refuge of gods and goddesses other than Shri Krishna. 4. Trust in Shri Vallabhacharya and his system. 5. The fruitfulness of the life of the Vaishnava lies in going to the refuge in Shri Krishna and in spending life as His humble servant according to the doctrine of the Pushti-Marga. To preach one of the prime duties after acquiring Diksha, Shri Mahaprabhu states in the book of ‘Navaratna’:

Tasmat sarvatmana nityam, Shri Krishnah Sharanam mama Vadadbhireva satatam; stheyamityeva me matih.

Meaning:Therefore, to show one's gratitude, devotion & regard, devotee should recite constantly & wholeheartedly the Mantra: “Shri Krishnah Sharanam mama” by keeping this devout sentiment in mind: “O Shri Krishna! Only you are my refuge”. Here in navratna granth, it is not said to speak in public, aagyna is given that to recite............... and not to publish.

Jai Shree Krishna With Thakorji Krupa, I was fortunate enough to seek clarification of the topic from PPG 108 Shree Yadunathji Bawashree. And Je je was benovalant enough to provide the clarification. With his permission, I humbly submit the same... Further I also in all reverence to Je Je offer my apologies in advance, if by even slightest of chances, I have miscommunicated Aapshree's Vachnamrut in any manner: When asked if Ashtakshar mantra, is a Gopya mantra, Shree Yadunathji said... The Mantra per say is not gopya, but the Bhaav is Gopya. Futher when clarification was sort as to whether it can be recited(ucchcharan) in public, aapshree, further clarified and said, No. Ashtakshar mantra should not be pronounced(uchcharan) in Public, but one has to do smaran of it only. However, the Mahamantra can be publicly recited among a group that consist is formed of dixit Vaishnavs (Vaishnavs who have taken Naam Mantra deeksha from Vallabhkul). Dandwat Je Je. And Thank you for providing the clarification. (Vaishnavs, wanting to continue satsang on this topic are humbly requested to do so without directly contradicting the above vahcnamrut of Vallabhkul, and ensure that there comments are made with due respect to the VACHNAMRUT)

Jai Shree Krishna I humbly submit the following taken from a hastalikhit book highlighting The Ashtakshar mantras divinity as explained by Shree Gusainji... Shree Gusainji has said that one should always to Jaap of Shree Krishna naam (The Ashtakshar Mantra). The reason for him mentioning the above is that by always it may be infered to recite it at all times, i.e. Working, sleeping, sitting, walking, speaking, day and night, every second, every moment, at all times, while one is in pure state, and even in teh state of impurity, without skipping a single moment, one should recite Shree Krishna naam. Further Shree Gusainji has said to do Jaap, Jaap here referes to the fact that any Jaap is done in Gopya state. That is in seclusion, not know to public. Hence Shree Gusianji advises to recite the mantra in such a way that nobody may listen to it, because, This Krishna naam has potent divine values, and hence it ought to be kept as a gaurded secret. The reason for teh same is that with-in this are the divineness of the four vedas, The essence of Shreemad Bhagwatji and also the divineness of Shree Krishnas vrajbhakthas, along with Mahaprabhuji Shree Vallabhacharyas divinity. Such is the greatness of Shree Ashtakshar mantra.

Jai Jai ShriGokulesh, Yes shreekantbhai, not only the bhaav of mantra is gopya, but also the mantra's itself r gopya. Siddhant Rahashya granth from the shodash granth has more then 11 tikas of the mahanubhaav aacharyas. From which one tikakaar is ShriPurushottamji. In this granth, shrimahaprabhuji has well explained the prakaar of taking a sa-dosh jeevs to sharan and what ever shrithakurji said has been word to word been said.

SHRAVANSHYAMALE PAKSHYE EKADASYA MAHANISHI || SAAKSHAADBHAGVADA PROKTAM TADAKSARASAHA UCHYATE || 1 ||

very beautiful sloka saying "On the midnight of ekadasya of the shravan maas in the amal paksha shrithakurji swayam said to me that i m describing here the word to word " But her a question arises that shrimahaprabhuji had taken pledge that i will say word to word, but where is the brahmasambandh mantra here, only said brahmasambandh karnaat sarveshaam but not the whole mantra ? why? In the tika ShriPurushottamji explains why for the answer. "Shastre Hyatigopya Mantraday Udibhyant Eva, Na to Prakashayata Kathayante ||" Means in shastras it is said that Mantras r ati gopya and should not be published so shrimahaprabhuji didn't published. And moreover ShriGusaiji's explaination is been described by Shreekantbhai which says the same. So Mantras should not be publicly published nor to be written. Only the sanket language like gadhya mantra or astakshar mantra and not the whole of the mantra.

Jai Jai ShriGokulesh Parivaar, Baroda

Jai Shri Krishna, Shri Acharyaji our guru (Shri Mahaprabhuji) blessed us with this Astashar Mahamantra and Prabhucaharan Shri Gusainji explained us the gud bhav of this Aloukik Mantra (“Nama-mantra-Diksha”. Astakshara-Maha-Mantra' is the Sharana-Diksha-mantra of Pushti-Bhakti-Marga. As this Mantra consists of 8 (eight) letters, it is called ‘Astakshara-Maha-Mantra’.) Meaning as given by our Prabhucharan ahrnish, dinta purvak aa mantra nu ratan karvathi jiv na badha rog, dukh, pap dur thay che, uprant ae jev ne vaibhav, kirti, laukik sukh male and saujaupuri alaukik mox male Aa mantra na darek shabd no aarth. SHRI---------- saubhagy ni prapti, dhan ni prapti, raja ne priya thavay. KRU ---------- Pap no nash SHNA ---------- adibhautik, adidevik, adhyatmik dukho no nash SHA ---------- Janam maran nu dukh tale RA ---------- Prabhu sambhadi gnan ni prapti NAM ---------- Bhagwan Krishna ma drath bhakti thay MA ---------- Guru ma priti thay MA ---------- Shri Hari sathe sayujay thay Let us all pray together SHRI KRISHNA SHARANMAMA. The bhaav is considered gopya as explained by Shri Gusainji and the best method is to recite within your heart fully understanding the deep meaning behind it. (Please excuse my broken gujarati).
