Jagdishji, As Acharya Garga was the family priest of Yadavs. If he conducted the naming ceremony of Krishna then Kansa would come to know that he is the 8th son of Devakiji . For strict privacy it took place inside nandbaba's go-shaala(cowshed) .

Gragacharyaji, after the naming ceremany of Shree Krishna, took aside Nandababa to the Go shala, and ther he revealed the truth to Nandababa that the Child was no ordinary one, and was blessed with deine powers, which only The lord himself can have, and hence asked Nanda baba to always heed to Shree Krishnas Vaani and advice.
In fact it is this advice of Shree Gargacharyaji that made Nanda baba take the right decision of accepting the advice of just 7 years old Shree Thakorji and deviate from performing Indra yaag, and instead peform Vishnuyaag, as directed by Shree Thakorji.

Lord Krishna's wives in their previous births may have been Yogis and Tapasvis who had experienced the bliss of Supreme and it was their desire to experience the feeling of being wife of the Supreme One. Every action taken by God has meaning in it.

the names i remember are rukmini , satyabhama, jambuvati ,satya, mitravinda, kalindi ,bhadra and lakshmana
every marriage of lord was event ful and war was associated with 6 marriages
the above list can be refered at slok number 206 207 208 in purshottam sahastranaam

JSK,
Well trying to gather some info abt 8 patrani's.
Actually Rukminiji is swarup of Laxmiji and took birth at Kundinapur's Raja Bhishmak.
When She was to be married Her brother Rukhm suggested to marry Her with his friend Shishupal.
But Naradji already told Rukminiji that Lord Shri Krishna , Dwarikanath is the only suitable person for Her
n She should marry Him, this is what her fate.
So Rukmini considered Dwarikanath as Her husband by heart n She didn't wished to marry Shishupal.
Here Rukhm send the 'tika' with one purohit to Shisupal, Shishupal accepted that
n said that he 'll come to marry Rukmini. And all arrangements for the ceremony began in Kondinapur.
So Rukmini send a brahmin to Dwarika with the message for Dwarikanath that She is in His
sharan n He be pleased to come n marry Her.
So Lord krishna with Balram n His sena went to Kuninapur to kill the demons n marry Rukmini.
When Rukmini went to Devi's temple for archana Krishna took her in His chariot n went to Dwarika.
Then the marriage ceremony took place in Dwarika n Rukmini became the patraani of Shri Krishna.
