Very tempting to post: Now your question is a question in itself?
The initial question on red & white flower is not yet established, and related question what Shree Rama's decision?
Very well put forward & may have more than one answers to these questions.
So I will pass on this, as I said tried to look at the Tikas in the matter of Ramayan and was not able trace these incidents.
Perhaps you can now kill the cat?

Well here is the long awaiting answer.
As everybody knows Lord Rama was wise He had to clear the doubt in the mind of Sitaji first then He has to prove that He loves all his bhakts dearly.
He asked a question to Sitaji to explain her better.
When Shri Hanumanji visited Asoka Vati you were present and when you saw Hanumanji what was the color of His Eyes and She replied Red.
Then Lord Rama continued and said at that time Shri Hanuman was full of Anger, Krodh, Upset and his whole body was burning inside and He could even visualize whole Lanka on fire as He could not tolerate your suffering.
He started breaking trees and started messing up the whole place, finally as we all know that He was caught and He with powerful strength and complete faith in His Lord Rama freed Himself and left by putting fire to most of Lanka.
So when His eyes were red he even saw the flowers were red and when Shri Laxman visited the place it was after the war and was happy that They had won and was seeing everything as they were like flowers color white.
So Lord Rama decided both were correct and Finally all Three thanked Lord Rama for impartial judgement made by Him.
I think Reetabhen knew some of the answer.
